The choice of plants applied is a technical criterion of utmost importance. This determines the texture, colour-combination, shape variety and life-span of the wall. Thousands of plants feel comfortable in a vertical position but their demands as for food, light, temperature can vary excluding their cohabitation. There exist species perfectly fit for vertical planting, such as epiphytes, that grow on trees and rocks in the wild and are well-adapted for life without soil.
